Oranges

Oranges

Vitamin C in a neat natural container that is refreshing and delicious. My grandma used to roll an orange on the countertop pressing hard with the palm of her hand. Then she would cut out the stem area, making a small hole. We would squeeze out the juice and drink it straight from the orange. Once we got all the juice out of the orange we could, we would tear the orange apart to get to the flesh and devour it, leaving the peel. Being the frugal, the orange peels were washed and the orange zest was used in orange muffins or scones, or orange ice cream. The rest was put in the compost pile or vermiculture, making use of the whole orange.
